Old West & Rodeo Art Show
Do you know a young or beginning artist who needs encouragement? One of our strongest points as a group is how the Guild nurtures artists who are just beginning to know the joy of creating art. Don’t be shy about inviting that person to our meetings and shows! Also, we would appreciate it if our members would be willing to take copies of our newsletters and prospectuses to places where they know artists hang out, or whom you think might support art. Invite them to join you at a meeting.
Don’t forget to bring in your drawing for the brochure contest! Details are in the enclosed flyer.
The Old West Show is coming up fast and we are going to need a lot of assistance from our members. We are going to need all of our members to sign up to help with the show and to sit during show hours. At Receiving, we will need two people to coordinate Receiving. This is a two-person job: one person checks the art and makes sure that all the paperwork is done before sending the artist on to Alice to pay for entries. In addition, we need someone to step up and persuade all the artists entering the show to sign up to sit at least once. Also on Thursday, we need at least six members to help log in the entries and four runners to put the art in categories. On Friday morning we will need runners to help set out the art for our judge, and then on Friday Afternoon, we need strong, able-bodied help to set up the standards and hang the show. On Wednesday the 22nd, is our artist reception and award ceremony, so please sign up to bring in finger foods and come to the reception! Invite your family, friends and customers to see your art! Finally, on Sunday afternoon we are going to need more able-bodied artists to assist in taking down the show. Our art show will only be as good as the support you give and I know I can count on all of you to step up and volunteer.
